The brake rotors and pads are integral parts of the traction control, stability, and any ABS system. Along with the calipers and brake pads, the disc brake rotors are metal discs that assist with slowing the vehicle down when the brake pedal is pressed. When brake service is performed at the LaFontaine Toyota Service Center, our highly trained certified technicians will:
Under normal driving conditions, the rotors on your vehicle may need replacement at approximately 70,000 miles. To ensure optimal stopping performance, the rotors may need replacement with any of the following signs:
Just like brake pads, brake rotors will wear down each time the brake is applied. Generally, equipment rotors are designed with a thickness level to provide performance for two or more brake pad replacements. This thickness is compromised over time and reduces the ability of the rotor to dissipate and absorb heat. When the rotor is worn down to its minimum thickness specification, it can no longer be resurfaced and must be replaced.
A thorough inspection of the brake rotors must occur to determine if hard spots, cracks or the excessive build-up of rust are present in the vents. If an issue is discovered, the service technician may make a recommendation for the full replacement of the rotors if the customer is concerned about saving on repair costs, safety, and overall braking performance.
